Leaving Milan for Florence, I enjoyed a scenic 1.5 to 2-hour train ride through Italy’s picturesque countryside, arriving at the historic Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. In Florence, I marveled at the Gothic splendor of the Duomo, crossed the iconic Ponte Vecchio, and took in stunning panoramic views from Piazzale Michelangelo. Next, I headed to Cinque Terre for a refreshing swim and planned to explore the Tuscan countryside with a local guide.
Traveling from Como to Milan by train was a breeze, and my visit to the Duomo di Milano offered a glimpse into the city’s rich history. Despite some COVID restrictions, I enjoyed exploring Milan’s iconic sites and soaking in its vibrant culture.
My COVID summer trip of 2021 led me to Lake Como, where I enjoyed a scenic train ride from Zurich through the Gotthard Base Tunnel and a breathtaking funicular ride up to Brunate. A delightful ferry ride to Bellagio offered stunning lake views and charming cobblestone streets, making it a memorable start to my Italian adventure.
