From a discounted first class Italo train to Bologna, to accidentally taking the wrong train to San Marino and not caring one bit, this leg of our honeymoon was all about the food, the micro-countries, and squeezing every last drop of value out of our points stash before flying home in business class.

Traveling during COVID offered a unique chance to experience these famous sites without the usual crowds, making this visit truly unforgettable
Florence & Cinque Terre, Italy
Leaving Milan for Florence, I enjoyed a scenic 1.5 to 2-hour train ride through Italy’s picturesque countryside, arriving at the historic Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. In Florence, I marveled at the Gothic splendor of the Duomo, crossed the iconic Ponte Vecchio, and took in stunning panoramic views from Piazzale Michelangelo. Next, I headed to Cinque Terre for a refreshing swim and planned to explore the Tuscan countryside with a local guide.
Milan, Italy
Traveling from Como to Milan by train was a breeze, and my visit to the Duomo di Milano offered a glimpse into the city’s rich history. Despite some COVID restrictions, I enjoyed exploring Milan’s iconic sites and soaking in its vibrant culture.
