To get the most out of the current Capital One 20% transfer bonus, here’s a quick guide to booking Qsuite award flights via British Airways:
- Search Smart: Start by transferring points from Capital One to British Airways Avios.
- Set Up a Free Account: If you don’t already have a British Airways account, creating one is quick and easy.
- Navigate to “Book with Avios”: Log in and go to the “Book with Avios” section on the British Airways website.
- Search for Availability: Unlike the American Airlines website, British Airways allows you to search for reward flights up to 365 days in advance, making it ideal for finding long-haul deals.
For this example, I’ll search for flights departing from Dallas (DFW). While I often prefer using American Airlines’ reward search tool, their search window doesn’t extend a full year, so we’ll go directly to British Airways for better results.
There was no availability on the 19th but I did find it on the 20th.
Flying Qatar Airways Qsuite can be surprisingly affordable when using points and miles. Here’s the breakdown:
The flight costs 70,000 Avios + $235 in taxes and fees. Compare that to paying $9,305 for the same business class ticket when booked in cash. Even if you were to book an economy seat for $719, using points offers unbeatable value.
With the current 20% Capital One transfer bonus, you only need 59,000 miles to book this flight. By opening a Capital One credit card, you could earn a 70,000-point sign-up bonus after meeting the spending requirement. With just the $95 annual fee, you could unlock a flight in what’s considered the best business class in the world.
You might be wondering, “Why would I want to take a trip to Doha, Qatar?” While I can’t fully answer that question just yet, in a few weeks, I’ll be visiting and sharing whether it’s worth the journey. But here’s the exciting part: you can use the same strategy to book Qsuite flights to destinations in Africa or Southeast Asia, with a layover in Doha along the way.
For example, while I couldn’t find availability for Bangkok, I did find options for Hanoi. Once you’re in Southeast Asia, flights between cities are incredibly affordable, making it easy to explore the region. And for those with Bali on their travel bucket list, good news—I found availability to Denpasar (Bali)!

If you book your trip to Southeast Asia, you can return the same way by searching for Qsuite reward availability—or you could explore flying home with other luxury airlines like Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific using points. I’ll cover those options in a future newsletter.
For now, here’s what I found: a round-trip award flight in Qsuites from Bali to Dallas for just 100,000 points and $342 in taxes and fees. Luxury travel has never been so accessible!
A round-trip in business class for this route would normally cost $8,400, while economy would set you back $1,600. With the Capital One transfer bonus, your total cost is just 167,000 points and $662 in taxes and fees—a savings of nearly $1,000 compared to economy, while enjoying $8,400 worth of luxury travel!

The best way to earn British Avios is through credit card partners you can certainly sign up to a British Airways credit card with Chase or American Express or sign up with a credit that has more flexibility. Be sure to pick a card that earns rewards with one of the transfer partners (Chase, American Express, Capital One, Cit, Wells Fargo, & Bilt).
